3 Memorial Day Hot Spots in the South!
Fort Lauderdale’s Great American Beach Party (Florida)
A free event that runs pretty much all day tomorrow (Saturday), from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Live bands, sand castle contest, classic car show, a kids zone, tons of beach games, Fort Lauderdale Walk Of Fame inductions, and of course, a tribute to the U.S. Armed Forces. The event claims to provide stress-free transportation in the form of shuttles and trolleys to and from public parking areas in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Beach party on, Florida.
If Saturday isn’t really your speed, the city will hold memorial ceremonies at Lauderdale Memorial Park Cemetery at 9 a.m., and another at the Sandy Nininger Statue, near the Riverwalk, at 11 a.m. on Monday.
Stone Mountain Park (Georgia)
A few miles east of Atlanta, Stone Mountain Park will be offering an impressive slate of Memorial Day attractions starting today (Friday) and concluding Monday—4 full days!
Day passes that include a meal are available ($31.95 for adults, 25.95 for children), and they grant access to all of the Mountain’s attractions including: adventure hikes, ropes courses, GeyserTowers water feature, amphibious Duck rides, and Summit SkyRide cable-car rides. Each night concludes with a salute to the troops, a lasershow, and a patriotic fireworks display.
Nashville’s Memorial Day Week (Tennessee)
Nashville offers a vibrant tapestry of events to keep families and individuals busy and entertained over Memorial Day weekend. Historical sites will be on display in their full glory including the War Memorial Auditorium, and the Military History Branch of the Tennessee State Museum.
Other cultural events in the city include; a sleepover at the zoo; Supercool Funfest, an outdoor 90s-themed music festival, wine events, art events, and more!
